Sonic 3: What They WILL Do in the Next Movie, and Thoughts on Sonic 4

Why am I so confident these things I'm about to list will happen in the third Sonic The Hedgehog movie? Well, honestly, I don't want to brag. But the things I told everyone, "This will happen," for Sonic 2... well, they actually happened.

My confidence boosted after I told everyone, "They're gonna bring in Shadow at the very end, like they did with Tails. They're gonna make some mention of '50 years ago' and Shadow's gonna appear, and then that'll be the cliffhanger," and sure enough, a G.U.N. officer informed the Commander, "We found a file dating back over 50 years." Meanwhile, Shadow rose in his BEM chamber somewhere on the Space Colony: ARK. Then the screen went black and the credits rolled.

So I am proud to list what I am very confident they will do in Sonic 3, should the story take on a very Sonic Adventure 2 style. (Keep in mind, it is entirely plausible they will do none of these things!) I won't list everything, since many more of my ideas revolve around the story essentially copying SA2.

- The opening scene will be of Shadow with Maria, likely as part of the backstory where Maria forces Shadow to go to Earth while she lets herself die. (They've gotta bring in Maria and Gerald Robotnik, of course, and they must get a young actress who looks as close to Maria as possible!)

- I think everyone anticipates Amy and Rouge to come in to play in Sonic 3. If Amy and Rouge are there, I imagine Rouge will be looking for the Master Emerald, as usual. Somehow, Amy will have heard of Sonic and be swooning over him, dying to meet him. Because Sonic is technically the Master Emerald's guardian per the events of Sonic 2, Rouge and Amy may go together to find the hedgehog and the emerald--for them, they kill two birds with one stone right there.

- It was awesome to see Tails fly the Tornado, even for just a few minutes, in Sonic 2! But since the original Tornado (though it was never called this) was destroyed, maybe Tails will build the blue Tornado 2?

- G.U.N. will likely salvage the defeated Robotnik mech from the last movie, and knowing them, they may learn from its tech and build their own robots, like from SA2. And if G.U.N. is still hunting Sonic--and after all he's done, too!--then how about another Mad Convoy chase with Sonic fleeing that massive, out-of-control G.U.N. truck?! (Maybe with a little less property damage this time!)

- Sonic released the Chaos Emeralds at the end of the last movie, and the emeralds are notorious for scattering far and wide when released. So when they're needed again, a massive search for them will ensue, especially when the clock begins ticking. Who'll be hunting them? I imagine everyone!

- Sonic and Shadow will meet and battle multiple times--this is inevitable. But perhaps we'll see some memorable moments between them from SA2, such as their classic leaping and posing against the moon before fighting, or even the famous dialogue,

Sonic: "I found you now, Faker!"

Shadow: "Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog around here. You're comparing yourself to me? You're not good enough to be my fake."

Sonic: "I'll make you eat those words!"

- Where will Tom and Maddie, and perhaps the other human characters, line up in all of this? (And please, no clunky Rachel-and-Randall romance this time!) If the story plays out similarly or even identically to SA2, someone has to reason with Shadow so he'll realize his mistakes and help save the world. In the game, that was Amy. In Sonic X, that was Chris. Will Amy do it again in Sonic 3, or will Tom and Maddie connect with Shadow? (I think it'd be cute if Shadow opened up a little to Maddie.)

- Okay, everyone knows it's coming. Sonic and Shadow will go super, most likely to stop the ARK or even Biolizard, should they bring it into the mix. Will Shadow plummet to Earth when the battle ends, seemingly to his death? It sounds reasonable. And if they do this, then we'll most certainly hear that famous line, "Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog."

- They gotta play "Live and Learn" as the credits song. Got to.

What about Sonic 4?

Bringing in Shadow and presumably Rouge and Amy also, there'll be so many new characters to introduce into the SCM (Sonic Cinematic Universe), there won't be room for additional friends and foes, such as Metal Sonic. So when will they bring in more notorious characters? Because we want 'em now!

In Sonic 4, I find it entirely plausible Metal Sonic will debut then. As for the next hero or heroes, I'm not entirely certain. I think it's a little early to bring in the rest of the cast. Sonic 2 introduced two new characters, and Sonic 3, if my assumptions are correct, will introduce three. In two movies, that's five characters--really, really famous characters. Metal Sonic is equally famous, but they producers will want to dial down the amount of newbies brought in so it's not overwhelming, nor fleshing out all the popular guys so quickly the movie series halts abruptly when everyone's brought in and there's nothing more to introduce.

In Sonic 2, Robotnik apparently died, and it is still not certain if Jim Carrey will return to play as Robotnik since he was suggesting retirement. The producers have made it clear they will not recast for Robotnik, so if Jim Carrey says "no," that's it. Robotnik's gone. Dead. But who isn't dead? Agent Stone.

Now, here I think Stone will become very Snively-like. He's not supposed to be Snively, but he shares some characteristics. And if you're an Archie-Sonic nerd like I am, you'll recall a storyline where the Freedom Fighters thought they'd defeated Robotnik for good. But who took the usurped throne in Robotnik's stead? None other than little Snively.

So if Robotnik is dead, Stone should rise up. In the "Pre-Quill" comic some of you may have gotten shortly before Sonic 2 debuted, we saw Robotnik left some instructions for Stone to rebuild what would've been his empire, one tiny step at a time. And Stone followed the instructions perfectly. That's how he got that entire Mean Bean coffee shop to himself--through very subtle yet Robotnik-like measures. So if he remembered those instructions, perhaps he'd have the guts and knowledge to pick up where "dead" Robotnik left off.

In which case, perhaps he'd stumble across designs Robotnik left for a robotic version of Sonic to combat that cursed rodent. Maybe he'll figure out how to build it. Maybe he'll program it the way Robotnik wanted to--with the ability to become a powerful version... a Neo version. And once Neo feels powerful enough, there will be some Metal Madness.

Sonic Heroes fans, does this ring a bell?

Which brings me to another thought: if the producers decide some more heroes should be added to Sonic 4 in a Heroes style, this will likely introduce another dynamic team: the Chaotix.
